From Kitchen Cabinets to Built-In Bookshelves
This project came for a homeowner in Austin who wanted to update their kitchen and add storage throughout the house. The scope included a full kitchen remodel, a built-in bookshelf in the living area, and custom floating shelves in a family room.
The Kitchen

The kitchen now features white shaker-style cabinets that run from floor to ceiling, making the room feel taller. The countertops are white, marble-look quartz with light gray veining. We added a center island with open shelving on one end for cookbooks and everyday items, and a gas cooktop on top. Two glass globe pendants add visual interest without blocking the view into the living area.
The backsplash is a white arabesque tile that picks up light from the window over the sink. Stainless appliances include a French door refrigerator, a built-in microwave above the counter, and a dishwasher tucked next to the sink run.
Living Room Built-In

In the living room, we built a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf into an existing wall niche. The homeowner wanted something that didn’t look like a standard bookcase from a furniture store, so we used an asymmetrical shelf layout with varying cubby heights.
Family Room Floating Shelves

The family room needed storage for books and games without eating up floor space. We mounted white floating shelves in an L-shape along two walls, keeping them high enough that furniture can sit beneath. The cubby sizes vary, so different items fit without looking cluttered.
The Whole Picture
Projects like this work best when the details connect. The white cabinetry in the kitchen, the clean lines of the floating shelves, and the darker accent of the living room built-in all feel like they belong in the same house. That’s the goal with custom work. It should look like it’s always been there.
