We’re excited to share our latest project—a custom-built deck inside the iconic Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, home of the Texas Longhorns. Just in time for the season opener, our Best Austin Handyman and Remodeling team completed this outdoor space, and the results speak for themselves!

We built a custom wood deck, providing fans with an ideal seating and standing area to enjoy the game in style and comfort. Located at a prime spot inside DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, this deck offers a fantastic view of the field and is perfect for socializing during the game.

Features of the Deck Build

Natural wood decking: We used premium materials to ensure durability and a classic look that complements the stadium’s architecture. The treated wood was selected to withstand weather conditions and heavy foot traffic, ensuring the deck lasts for years to come.
Secure railings and open-air design: Safety is key, and this deck features secure metal railings while maintaining an open layout. This design allows fans to feel fully immersed in the game without obstructed views.

This project was an incredible opportunity to blend functionality with fan experience, improving one of Austin’s most historic venues.

About Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium

As many know, Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is a cornerstone of Austin’s sports culture. Initially opened in 1924, the stadium was dedicated to over 198,000 Texans who served in World War I. The stadium’s name has changed several times, but it was rededicated in 1996 to honor legendary coach Darrell K Royal.

This historic venue has witnessed numerous expansions, growing from a modest 27,000-seat capacity to its current 100,119 seats, making it the largest in the Big 12 Conference. The stadium also features a distinctive horseshoe design, offering panoramic field views. Some of the most memorable moments here include the introduction of the famous “Hook ’em Horns” gesture and a record-breaking crowd of over 103,000 fans in 2018.

From game-day traditions to championship victories, DKR Stadium has been a focal point for Texas sports history, and we are proud to have added to this legacy with our deck project.
